Free School Meals

New Year 7s for ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026

If your child is currently receiving free school meals at primary or you believe you are eligible (you may use the eligibility checker to check), then please apply at Stoke Citizen Portal. In order for this to be valid for secondary school, you need to apply from August 1, 2025 onward. The sooner you apply after this date, the quicker the local authority can process your application so free school meals are available from the start of school for your child.

Students already at Secondary School and currently in receipt of Free School Meals

If you child is currently at secondary school and was in receipt of free school meals prior to the 1st of April 2025, then they will continue to be eligible until the end of secondary school.

Applications of Free School Meals after 1st April 2025

The Local Authority will check eligibility on a monthly basis and therefore will inform both you and the school of any changes to this, which would result in your child not receiving free school meals. We do however encourage you to keep checking your eligibility so you can reapply as soon as necessary.
