Curriculum Enrichment

At Trentham our students have won fantastic awards and numerous competitions through our enrichment programme. In recent years, we have been Stoke Science Olympic champions multiple times, UK Robotics Competition finalists and category national champions, SASCAL Youth Speaks County and City and County Champions in a range of sports. As a school we collaborate with parents, clubs and outside sports agencies to ensure our brightest sporting lights have the opportunity to fulfil their national and world class potential through bespoke curriculum arrangements. We have sporting alumni and potential national and international level athletes in Cricket, Football, Rugby, Table Tennis and Rowing.

Enrichment Projects: My Community Club Challenge

Students took part in the My Community Club Challenge – a unique project funded by Higher Horizons Staffordshire University Hub which provided students with an insight into the different careers and opportunities available within professional football. Students worked in different roles, including Chairman, Head Coach, Commercial and Media Manager to create a brand new football team for the school. Students were asked to create the name and logo for the team, select and train a squad of players, identify and approach sponsors, build a following on social media and design a kit that was professionally made by a local manufacturer. The event culminated in a finals event held at Harrison Park, home to Leek Town FC in December where Trentham Titans were victorious in not only their match, but also the penalty shoot out!

Our students enter the Trentham Prize for fiction with their own stories. The winning students have their stories published in the Annual Trentham Prize for Fiction book. Copies of this are kept in the Reading Lounge for all students to read

Broadening Horizons:

Duke of Edinburgh & NCS:

Broadening our students’ horizons is key to developing aspiration and students have the opportunity to complete Duke of Edinburgh qualifications, of which we have 36 students completing the Bronze and 13 completing silver, this year alone. We have achieved Silver award for National Citizenship Service due to the numbers of students completing the programme.
