Rab Sanghera

Co-opted Governor

I am a highly motivated individual who believes that you can be anything you want to be in life as long as you don’t give up.  Coming from a working class background, I knew that with hard work, dedication, and a supportive family, I could become a success.

Having achieved a Degree in Law together with further vocational training, I have worked within the legal field for many years.  I currently work for the NHS where services are mainly around mental Health and wellbeing.

My role is to negotiate property agreements for the benefit of the Trust/ Services and ensuring buildings are compliant with relevant statutory laws. I work closely with QHSE, Fire Safety and Governance Specialists to maintain the safety of others.

My husband and I have two children together, both who study at the Academy in Years 7 and 10. Over the years, I have seen how the Academy has grown producing some outstanding results and how it involves the local community in events.  Becoming a Governor means that I can utilise my skills to ensure the safety of all that are at the Academy and have an input in today’s future.

Being a Governor is no doubt a challenging role that I am looking forward to and I’m sure I speak for all parent/carers that children’s education is paramount in shaping their future.

Any free time I get (what free time!) I like to stay active having previously completed the Bristol Marathon, enjoy well-being time with friends and family.

My motto is ‘’Don’t be afraid to go forward, it is all in the unknown but if you don’t try, you won’t know what the future holds.”
